Current and past research
- CO2 sequestration
- Develop mitigation strategies to remediate toxic W contamination in soil and groundwater
- Investigate the role of methanogenesis in remobilizing Fe and S from pyrite to biomass using enriched Fe and S isotopes under anoxic conditions analogous to the Archean Ocean
- Determine the extent of Fe cycling during microbial reduction of ferric (hydr)oxides in acidic anoxic conditions analogous to terrestrial (e.g., hydrothermal acidic pools) and extraterrestrial (e.g., Mars) environments using stable Fe isotopes
- Evaluate the potential of ferrihydrite for organic carbon sequestration using Fe isotopes
- Apply metal isotopes (e.g., Ca, Mg, and Sr) of marine carbonates to explore global geochemical cycles of metals via surface and subsurface processes
- Develop metal isotopes (e.g., Ca, Mg, and Sr) in marine carbonates as proxies for paleoceanographic and paleoclimatic reconstruction
